I have always enjoyed attending author events. I remember hearing Raymond Feist speak for a very long time about creating Midkemia, once his D&D-based realm and also the setting for his Riftwar universe. Hearing Seth Harwood talk about the origins of The Maltese Jordans at Porter Square Books was wonderful, partially because it was wonderful to hear him speak simply as an author and not as an instructor.
However, my hands-down favorite author event was listening to Ellen Kushner discuss Swordspoint–the first of her novels set in the World of Riverside. Of course, it wasn’t this novel that brought me to her event but rather Thomas the Rhymer. I love this book. There is poetic magic in her stories. It’s as if she dips her quill in an ink that springs from a pool in Elfland. What was unexpected was how much I enjoyed listening to Ellen talk about her craft and the way she approached writing. Such a relaxed evening with a charming hostess.
I think of this and I can only hope to be one-tenth as charming and informative as she was because now it’s my turn.
At the invitation of Jessie Fries and Eddy Murray, I am honored to be the guest speaker at an author meet and greet at the Art Shoppe on August 27th from 6-8 pm in Plymouth, MA.
Look! Their blurb:
You are cordially invited to meet and greet one of the amazing writers of Ground Fiction Vol. 1 & 2, author of “Green River”, an Adrian Tannhauser mystery-our guest of honor Andrew C. Peterson!
Andrew has graciously agreed to do a reading from one of his many literary works for guests to enjoy. He will also have copies of Ground Fiction Vol. 1 & 2 available for purchase & will sign your book while supplies last.
