The latest Tannhauser adventure has just been published in Ground Fiction: Vol. 2, Issue 1. In “Eighteen at Cedar Junction”, Adrian has a meeting at Dermody’s, an old neighborhood saloon that refuses gentrification because it likes being in a neighborhood that has bad habits.
“Thank you for coming,” he said. “May I offer you a drink?”
He gestured behind him. On the bar was a new bottle of Redbreast twenty-one-year-old Irish whiskey. Two crystal glasses accompanied it. I nodded. He turned to open the bottle. While he did, I looked around the saloon. Neon signs from long-defunct beer companies lined the wall on my left. The wood bar was carved with initials and marred with graffiti. I read a few lines. A woman named Brigit got around.

As you may have noticed, I have once again employed the creative talents of Edlund Design for this latest graphic. Gaze upon its awesomeness. This new image perfectly captures the essence of Dermody’s, a place long-past its prime–if it ever had one.
I let Nick read the story and then come up with the image. There’s very little input from me. But I sure as hell wish that I had thought of adding “Ice Cold Tannhauser” as a beer sign to anything.
